Anything else we need to know, Tahir? ‘I also have two pet turtles which I spend a lot of time and money on…’
Tell us a bit about yourself…
Hi there! I am currently a 3rd year visual communication (graphic design) student. I specialise in brand communication.
What are your inspirations?
My environment and every thing in it. My sole aim in life is to simply improve the world through design.
That would have to be the rebranding of myself. This was a project for uni, where I branded my self as ‘Fresh’ since it relates to my lifestyle of me being clean and organized and also the fact that it relates to the meaning of my name which means pure and clean. The visual came from the idea of and use of exaggeration and communicating the message that, me being so clean I leave a clean print rather than a dirty or dusty one, which we as humans do leave behind.
Who are your favourite ‘creatives’ in your chosen field?
There are many but to pick a few I would start of with Banksy. Whose work I admire since the meaning is mostly produced through specific environments as the medium, in order to engage and communicate strongly. I also strongly admire Shigeo Fukuda who is a Japanese designer known for strong use semiotics and illusions. There is also another designer known as Yusaku Kamekura, who’s work I admire as a all round strong Graphic Designer. His posters from the Tokyo Olympics ’64 are some of my favourite pieces of design.
