TYC goes for Tea and Cake…

Tea and cake is a very delicate subject: how does one make the perfect cuppa? Which cake is perfect for banishing those mid-afternoon hunger pangs? And how, exactly, does one plan a tea party?

Happily enough for those not-in-the-know, there is now Tea and Cake, the aptly-named title that covers all things afternoon tea. What we particularly like about this book is that it is solely illustrated by illustrator (and the first Young Creative to be featured on TYC) Emma Block.

Emma’s gorgeous illustrations accompany dozens of tasty teatime recipes (lemon meringue cupcakes, glitter pops and warm apple pie bites, to name but a few), including ways to make your cup of tea that bit more interesting – Marteani, anyone?

The book is hardback and full-colour, meaning that each recipe practically bursts off the page. Combining Emma’s trademark artistic style (oh-so pretty patterns, collages and paints), it truly is one of those recipe books that you can pluck off the shelf and idly spend an hour flicking through, discovering something new each time.

Admittedly, there are a number of titles on the market that cover the tea-n-cake market, but none in quite such a charming, personal manner. From the tea strength guide (FYI, we are ‘dirty dishwater’ drinkers) to the tea party planning guide, all aspects of the humble afternoon tea are covered and we absolutely L-O-V-E it.

Buy Tea and Cake here, and head to Emma’s blog for exclusive recipes and your chance to win a copy of the book.
