Event: Museums At Night 2012

Between Friday 18th and Sunday 20th May, museums and galleries across the country will be flinging open their doors for a huge range of special after-hours activities.

The U.K. is lucky to play host to so many cultural hotspots and, funded by Arts Council England, this long weekend aims to celebrate the diverse range of art, literature, science and more.

There are SO many amazing events scheduled – below are just a few to whet your appetite…

  • A Dr Who sleepover at the John Rylands Library, Manchester
  • The chance to write a play in William Shakespeare’s first home – which will then be performed by in-house actors – at Shakespeare’s Birthplace and the Shakespeare Centre, in Stratford-upon-Avon
  • A mass group drawing session at the Elevator Bar in Liverpool
  • Star-gazing, workshops and spectacular planetarium shows at the National Space Centre, Leicester
  • Live music, D.I.Y. arts-and-crafts and contemporary art at the Biscuit Factory in Tyne and Wear
  • Exchange your old art books for new at Crescent Arts in Scarborough
  • The chance to sleep in the presence of some thousand-year-old mummies at the British Museum, London
